I Want Google Glass

My blog has been “Coming Soon” since October 5, 2011. I’ve had ideas on posts – but simply failed to execute and write.

So why start now?

I want Google Glass and I need your help.

Why I want Google Glass

#Wear2Share

I want to test Glass as an Explorer (Google’s name for Glass beta testers).  Glass is seeking to solve a technology problem that has developed since the smart phone and is detailed in this reveiw on The Verge. I want to know if Glass is another distraction or if it accomplishes the goal of being new technology that integrates with human behavior.

Steve Lee (product director for Glass) thinks a device that is literally “close to the senses” will accomplish this, and I want to share my experience through this blog and other social networks.

Work Development

I’ve been working in the Digital Marketing industry at KBM Group for a year and Glass has the potential to be a game-changer within the marketing industry.  I want to use Glass and share my experience from a Digital Marketing perspective.

Why do I need your Help?

“What would you do if you had Glass?” That’s the question Google is asking potential Explorers to creatively respond to in order to be selected to help shape the future of Glass.

I have reached the conclusion that nothing I can do on my own will be creative enough to warrant selection by Google to be an Explorer – so I’m asking my community for help.

How Can You Help?

Some of you may not want to help since you’d like Google Glass as well.  If you’re not wanting to be an Explorer, here is the way I’d like to catch the attention of Project Glass.  I want you to apply by following the twitter application submission guidelines. Somewhere in your tweet, imply you would like me to have Glass by mentioning @brantley_d in the post – I understand this is a long-shot, but I think this might catch the attention of Project Glass.

To apply for Google Glass on twitter:

  • follow @projectglass on Twitter
  • include #ifihadglass on your tweet
  • make sure your tweet doesn’t exceed 50 words or 140 characters

Here are two examples tweets:

  1. “#ifihadglass I’d want @brantley_d to have my pair because he would #Wear2Share”
  2. “#ifihadglass @brantley_d would wear my pair because he’s dorky enough”

The deadline for applications is this Wednesday, February 27th.  Thanks in advance!
